
The Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Professor Dr. Azmi Mahafazah, met with the presidents of public Jordanian universities in the Higher Education Council hall, in the presence of the Ministry's Secretary-General, Dr. Ma'moun Al Dabie.
At the beginning of the meeting, Minister Mahafazah welcomed the attendees and extended his congratulations on the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan.
Following this, the Secretary-General of the Ministry and Chairman of the Financial Committee of the Higher Education Council, Dr. Ma'moun Al Dabie, provided a detailed explanation of the mechanisms and criteria used in distributing government financial support to universities for the year 2025.
The meeting also addressed the necessity of amending several internal university regulations to positively impact the financial situation of universities.
Additionally, discussions were held on the necessary mechanisms to keep up with digitalization processes within universities, particularly integrating artificial intelligence into teaching various disciplines, not just in information technology faculties.
The importance of collaboration and responsiveness to the directives of the National Council for Future Technology was also emphasized.
Minister Mahafazah provided an overview of the Council's work plan and the requirements for working within the education and higher education sectors.
Furthermore, the meeting discussed the implementation of recent recommendations by the Higher Education Council regarding combating tobacco use and smoking on university campuses.
The meeting was attended by several Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research officials, including Mr. Shadi Masaadeh, Director of the General Secretariat of the Higher Education Council, and Mr. Muhannad Al-Khatib, Media Advisor to the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research and Director of the Unified Admission Coordination Unit.
