Higher Education Minister Muhammad Abu Qudais met on Monday with Kuwaiti Ambassador to Amman Aziz Al-Daihani to discuss the recent decisions of the Higher Education Council (HEC) regarding the development of study plans and programs and bringing them in line with the skills required in the labor market. In addition to discuss the re-consideration of the competent Kuwaiti authorities in Jordanian universities accredited by the Kuwaiti Ministry of Higher Education.

At the beginning of the meeting, attended by Secretary-General of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research Mamoun al-Debe'I, Kuwaiti Cultural Attaché Bader Al-Mutairi, a number of public and private Jordanian universities presidents and directors of relevant directorates and units in the Ministry, Abu Qudais welcomed the ambassador and the accompanying delegation, stressing the depth of relations between Jordan and Kuwait.

Minister indicated that Jordanian universities seek excellence by offering new specializations and study programs (future majors) required in the regional and global labor market, pointing out HEC decision to develop study plans and programs so as to bring them into line with the skills required in the labor market. In addition to include special training programs to increase the national and international competitiveness of university graduates to help them easily obtain suitable job opportunities.

Abu-Qudais stressed the need to implement the royal visions regarding integrating e-learning in the higher education system in Jordan and making it part of the educational process in higher education institutions.

He also expressed Ministry’s keenness to increase the number of foreign students studying in Jordanian universities, while maintaining the quality of the Jordanian higher education sector. Adding that the Ministry is currently working on new arrangements to facilitate admission of international students to Jordanian universities through establishing a unified window (office) to provide all the services they need in order to avoid visiting the various official institutions and bodies.

During the meeting, they discussed the re-consideration of the competent Kuwaiti authorities in Jordanian universities accredited for the purposes of direct scholarship by the Kuwaiti Ministry of Higher Education, as a Kuwaiti committee will visit Jordanian universities for this purpose.

It should be noted that there are (5110) Kuwaiti students currently studying in Jordanian universities in various specializations and academic degrees.
