In cooperation between the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and the Jordan Tourism Board, Jordan participates in the 8th International Education Exhibition (EDEX) in Erbil / Kurdistan Region of Iraq

On Saturday, July 19, 2025, the 8th International Education Exhibition (EDEX), specializing in educational tourism, was launched in Erbil, Kurdistan Region of Iraq. The exhibition will continue for two days, and Jordan is participating through a special pavilion representing the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, the Jordan Tourism Board, in addition to other pavilions from fourteen (14) public and private Jordanian universities, including specialized academies in aviation, culinary arts, and tourism.

The exhibition was inaugurated on Saturday under the patronage of the Governor of Erbil, Mr. Omed Khoshnaw, accompanied by His Excellency Mr. Fouad Al-Majali, the Jordanian Consul General in Erbil, who toured the participating Jordanian university pavilions.

It is worth noting that the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research has a strategic partnership with the Jordan Tourism Board, which plays a tremendous role in supporting educational tourism in the Kingdom. Jordan’s participation in this exhibition is part of the implementation of the executive plan of the strategy to attract international students to study in higher education institutions in Jordan for the years (2023–2027), which was prepared by the Ministry in cooperation and coordination with its strategic partner, the Jordan Tourism Board, and approved by the Council of Ministers. The strategy aims to promote educational tourism in the Kingdom and increase the number of international students studying at Jordanian higher education institutions. It is also worth noting that the Ministry and Jordanian universities have participated and will continue to participate in several other exhibitions held in various countries throughout 2025.

Additionally, Jordan’s participation in this exhibition follows the announcement by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq of its official recognition of all public and private Jordanian universities that took part in the Jordanian-Kurdish Higher Education Forum (Erbil-2024), which was held last May (2024). During the forum, the participating universities signed agreements with Kurdish universities in the provinces of Erbil, Sulaymaniyah, and Duhok, marking a culmination of the efforts made to ensure the success of the forum.

Moreover, in May (5) of this year (2025), an official delegation from the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and the Jordan Tourism Board, in coordination with the Jordanian Consulate General in Erbil, conducted an official working visit to the Kurdistan Region of Iraq. During the visit, the delegation met with several officials from the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and toured several schools in the region to promote studying in Jordanian universities.
