The Higher Education Council Approves the Renewal of Appointments for Several Presidents of Jordanian Public Universities

The Higher Education Council, in its session held today, Tuesday, 5/8/2025, chaired by the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Professor Dr. Azmi Mahafzah, decided the following:
The recommendation to renew the appointment of:

• H.E. Professor Dr. Nathir Mufleh Mohammad Obeidat as President of the University of Jordan for a period of four years, effective from 9/8/2025.
• Professor Dr. Khaled Issa Salem Al-Salem as President of Jordan University of Science and Technology, effective from 9/8/2025.
• Professor Dr. Aladdin Tawfiq Al-Halhouli as President of the German Jordanian University for a period of four years, effective from 23/8/2025.

This is based on the provisions of Article (6/A/8) of the Higher Education and Scientific Research Law No. (17) of 2018 and its amendments, and Article (11/A) of the Jordanian Universities Law No. (18) of 2018 and its amendments.

• The dismissal of Professor Dr. Bassam Zeall Abdel Rahbeh Al-Mahasneh from his position as President of Tafila Technical University, effective from the date of the decision, based on Clause (2) of Paragraph (D) of Article (11) of the Jordanian Universities Law No. (18) of 2018 and its amendments.
• The non-renewal of the appointment of Professor Dr. Islam "Mohammad Salahuddin" Basheer Massad as President of Yarmouk University.
• The announcement of the opening of nominations for the positions of President of Yarmouk University and President of Tafila Technical University, starting from the morning of Sunday, 10/8/2025, until the end of Thursday, 14/8/2025.
  It is noted that the vacancies will be announced through a link on the website of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.
  Applicants must meet the following conditions, in accordance with the provisions of Article (11/A) of the Jordanian Universities Law No. (18) of 2018 and its amendments:
• Must be of Jordanian nationality.
• Must have held the rank of Professor as a faculty member.
• Must not be a member of the Higher Education Council.

The Higher Education Council will select the university presidents according to the plan approved by the Council for the selection of university presidents.
