On Tuesday, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Azmi Mahafzah, announced that the Directorate of Scholarships at the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research will nominate 4,000 new students to receive loans from the ministry’s Student Support Fund.
These loans will be allocated in place of students who declined them, as the official deadline for completing the required procedures and documents for nominated students to receive internal grants and loans ended today, Tuesday.
Minister Mahafzah added that the ministry will distribute these available loans among districts where not all applicants were covered by grants and loans.
The ministry is expected to announce the names of the students who will receive these loans within 48 hours, and they will be notified via text messages sent to the phone numbers provided in their applications.
It is worth noting that including this additional number of students in the loan program will raise the total number of students nominated for internal grants and loans for the 2024-2025 academic year from 53,132 to 57,132.
Additionally, the percentage of students receiving internal grants and loans will increase from 70% to 75% of the total applicants who met the eligibility criteria.
