The Secretary-General of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and Chairman of the Committee for Attracting International Students, Dr. Mamoun Al-Dabie, stated on Saturday that the ministry highly values the efforts of its strategic partner in attracting international (non-Jordanian) students to study at Jordanian higher education institutions, the Tourism Promotion Authority, led by its Director General, Dr. Abdulrazzaq Arabiyat.
Al- Dabie added that the ministry and the authority signed a joint cooperation agreement years ago and subsequently developed a national strategy for attracting international students for the years 2023–2027, which was approved by the Council of Ministers. The Committee for Attracting International Students, formed by the Higher Education Council to oversee and supervise the implementation of the strategy, includes in its membership Mr. Abdullah Kreishan, Head of the Educational Tourism Unit at the Tourism Promotion Authority.
Al-Dabie also highlighted that the number of international students enrolled in Jordanian universities for the academic year 2024–2025 has, for the first time in Jordan’s history, reached 51,647 students from 113 countries worldwide. This achievement is the result of the combined efforts of all state institutions, primarily the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, the Tourism Promotion Authority, and all public and private Jordanian higher education institutions.
