The Secretary-General of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Mamoun Al-Dabie, meets with the Deputy Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Innovation of Uzbekistan

The Secretary-General of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Mamoun Al-Dabie, met in his office at the ministry’s headquarters with Mr. Maksamov Otabek, Deputy Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Innovation of Uzbekistan, who headed a delegation that included:

  • Mr. Davron Rasulov, First Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Religious Affairs
  • Mr. Yozif Gulibjon, Head of the Department of International Cooperation at the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Innovation
  • Mr. Mahmadolam Mahmad Siddiq, Deputy Head of the Office of Muslims of Uzbekistan

At the beginning of the meeting, both parties praised the strong relations between the two countries, emphasizing the need to move forward in strengthening these ties and deepening cooperation in various fields.

Dr. Al-Dabie welcomed the distinguished guests and provided an overview of the development of the higher education sector in Jordan, the laws and governance regulating universities, and the number of international (non-Jordanian) students studying at Jordanian higher education institutions. He also highlighted the efforts made by the International Student Recruitment Committee, formed under the Higher Education Council, to promote Jordanian universities and attract more international students. This initiative is carried out in partnership with the Jordan Tourism Board, its strategic partner in this regard.

Dr. Al-Dabai explained the key factors that make Jordan an attractive destination for international students, including the excellent reputation of its higher education sector, the ranking of Jordanian universities in global classifications, and the distinguished performance of graduates, especially in medical, engineering, and nursing fields. He also outlined the system for recognizing non-Jordanian universities and invited Uzbek universities to submit recognition requests through the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research’s online platform. These applications would be reviewed by the Committee for the Recognition of Non-Jordanian Higher Education Institutions.

For his part, the Uzbek Deputy Minister of Higher Education praised the warm reception and hospitality, affirming Uzbekistan’s commitment to enhancing cooperation with Jordan in the fields of higher education and scientific research, as well as facilitating faculty and student exchange programs.

At the conclusion of the meeting, both parties agreed on a clear roadmap to advance cooperation in higher education and scientific research, ultimately leading to the signing of an executive program aimed at increasing faculty exchanges, establishing joint programs, and expanding student exchange opportunities.

The meeting was attended by several officials from the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, including:

  • Mr. Fadi Al-Rousan, Director of the International Student Affairs Unit
  • Mr. Ibrahim Al-Amoush, Director of the Scholarships Directorate
  • Dr. Aseel Al-Muhaisen, Director of the Recognition and Non-Jordanian Certificate Equivalency Directorate
