Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Mahafza Meets Senegalese Minister of Higher Education

The Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Professor Dr. Azmi Al-Mahafza, met today, Monday, in his office at the ministry’s headquarters with His Excellency the Minister of Higher Education, Research, and Innovation in the Republic of Senegal, Dr. Daouda Ngom, in the presence of His Excellency Professor Dr. Khaled Toukan, Chairman of the Jordan Atomic Energy Commission; His Excellency the Ambassador of the Republic of Senegal to Egypt, Dr. Kimoko Diakité; in addition to Her Excellency Ms. Samar Drouza, Honorary Consul of the Republic of Senegal in Amman.

During the meeting, emphasis was placed on the depth of the relations linking the two friendly sides, and ways to enhance joint cooperation in the fields of higher education and scientific research were discussed, in addition to addressing a number of issues of mutual interest, including the exchange of academic expertise, student exchange, and expanding horizons of cooperation between universities and educational institutions. The mechanism for accrediting and signing an executive program (memorandum of understanding) between the two sides in the field of higher education was also discussed.

Minister Al-Mahafza affirmed during the meeting the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research’s keenness to attract more Senegalese students to study at Jordanian universities and to work to overcome all difficulties they may face in enrolling in Jordanian universities. It is worth noting that there are currently (95) male and female students from the Republic of Senegal studying in various Jordanian higher education institutions. Minister Al-Mahafza also pointed out that students from Islamic countries who study in the fields of Sharia and Arabic language are treated at public universities in the same manner as Jordanian students in terms of paying university fees.
